Colin Wright Photography bio picture

Welcome!

Since I started photographing professionally in 2003, I have been dedicated to producing the most beautiful creative outdoor photography I can.  Finding the hand of God in images of His astounding creations is what I strive for with every image.

My primary focus is on photography practiced in the great outdoors, with my photographic interests also including aircraft, macro photography and elements of color, contrast, symmetry and reflection.

I am represented at Framations Art Gallery in St. Charles MO, where you can always see examples of my work hung on the walls.  Framations also hosts a video tour of some of my work, which can be seen here.

Changes are Coming

In an effort to consolidate where/how I spend my time on my blogs, I’m doing a little sprucing up around here. First off, this site — Colin Wright Photography — will eventually become more of a portfolio site for me, rather than a blog site. I think that’ll serve me better, and keep my updates...

After attending last year’s photo walk, I decided I wanted to contribute more this year, and have volunteered to lead a walk in St. Charles MO this year. This year’s WWPW will take place on July 24th, 2010, and, thanks to Amy and Sarah, we’ll be starting out at Framations, at 218 N Main Street...

Fresh Art: Swinging in Time

After two days in the snow, it was time to come back inside the office and see what I could do with my pendulum. Pretty easy setup — set the pendulum up inside some black cloth, and get it moving. I set my 580EX II to strobe 15 times at 10hz across an exposure of...

Fresh Art: Blue Chesspieces

Tonight, I pulled my old slide light table out, put a glass chessboard atop it, and began to play with some glass chesspieces I had lying about. I’ve been wanting to play with this light table for a while, and finding these chesspieces gave me just the excuse. I suspect I’ll use it with some...

Fresh Art: Guilty as Charged

Our Bernese Mountain Dog pup, Bailey, was lounging in Becky’s lap, sporting the sheepish look of someone caught with their hand in the cookie jar. Guilty as Charged is available through my online gallery in a variety of sizes.

New Hosting

Last night, I finished moving both domains to Dreamhost. It’s my belief that this will improve my uptime, and make things a big more responsive. If you find things that aren’t working, please let me know!

Agility Class

I’ve had the good fortune to have photographed at a friend’s agility field for the last two weekends. Needless to say, it’s been a hoot! Great dogs and owners, all learning to work together better as a team. Above is Chloe, one of the dogs I had the pleasure of photographing on the course. She’s...
