Photo of the Week: Moonrise at Half Dome
12 November 2007 @ 21:22
During my DLWS sessions at Yosemite National Park,
the class travelled to Glacier Point to watch the
dying sunlight on Half Dome. While we watched the
glow from the sunset behind us, we were treated to a
beautiful moonrise through the thin clouds.
Moonrise at Half Dome is available in a variety of sizes, with an unframed print matted at 11x14, and framed images at both 18x24 (single mat) and 22x28 (double-matted). Please visit my sales gallery on Yessy if you are interested in purchasing Moonrise at Half Dome.

Photo of the Week: Gateway Arch
26 September 2007 @ 20:54
This image of the Gateway Arch was shot late in the
afternoon, and features a cloud-draped Sun straddled
by the arch. I was leaving a Cardinals game at the
old Busch Stadium when I saw this brilliant
combination of light and dark on the arch.

Photos of the Week: Blue Angels
19 September 2007 @ 21:30
I'd promised getting some of the Blue Angels images
from the St. Louis County Fair posted. Tonight, I'm
delivering four of those images.
The first, Blue Angels Delta captures the Blue Angels in a delta formation, overhead and in a turn.
The second, Angels Diamond, was also taken at the fair as the Blue Angels flew overhead.
The third, Gear Down, shows the underbelly of one of the Blue Angels aircraft as it comes in to land.
The last, Slow Diamond, captures the Blue Angels flying low and slow in a diamond formation.
All these images are available in a variety of sizes, with an unframed print matted at 11x14, and framed images at both 18x24 (single mat) and 22x28 (double-matted). Please visit my sales gallery on Yessy if you are interested in purchasing any of the airshow images.

Photos of the Week: Footprints and Little Crab
09 September 2007 @ 18:07
Since I didn't have a photo up last week, I've
included two images from my trip to the Outer Banks
in 2005.
The first, Footprints captures the tracks of a small bird across the sands at the ocean along the Outer Banks.
The second, Little Crab, was also taken on the sands at the Outer Banks. I found this little guy running around on the beach, and he was nice enough to pause so I could take a close-up photo of him.
Both Footprints and Little Crab are available in a variety of sizes, with an unframed print matted at 11x14, and framed images at both 18x24 (single mat) and 22x28 (double-matted). Please visit my sales gallery on Yessy if you are interested in purchasing Footprints or Little Crab.

Photo of the Week: Amber Waves of Grain
28 August 2007 @ 21:29
Shot in Arizona, this week's image was taken during a
trip to the Grand Canyon in late spring of 2004. It
was taken on the road from Flagstaff to the Grand
Canyon and features Humphreys Peak, the tallest point
in Arizona. The sun was setting, lighting up the
grain in the field in the foreground.
Amber Waves of Grain is available in a variety of sizes, with an unframed print matted at 11x14, and framed images at both 18x24 (single mat) and 22x28 (double-matted). Please visit my sales gallery on Yessy if you are interested in purchasing Amber Waves of Grain.

Photo of the Week: Tenaya Creek
20 August 2007 @ 20:46
This week's image is another of several featured
images from my trip to the Digital Landscape Workshop
Series in Yosemite National Park. I drove from St.
Louis to Yosemite in November 2005 to study digital
photography and workflow from Moose Peterson.
This image was captured on the last morning shoot of the seminar. This particular scene attracted me because of the nice diagonal line through the image, along with the contrast of the rocks beneath the clear moving water and the turbulence beyond.

Photo of the Week: Yosemite Falls
14 August 2007 @ 20:25
This week's image is the first of several featured
images from my trip to the Digital Landscape Workshop
Series in Yosemite National Park. I drove from St.
Louis to Yosemite in November 2005 to study digital
photography and workflow from Moose Peterson.
Each day, Moose would guide the students through a morning and an evening shoot to capture some of Yosemite's glory. This image was captured during our first morning shoot around Yosemite Falls. Despite the low water flow in the falls, there was enough spray off the rocks to capture the morning sun and create this beautiful rainbow.

Photo of the Week: Dark Crystal
06 August 2007 @ 20:47
This week's image is Dark Crystal. Dark
Crystal was taken during an ice storm in early
2007. This crystal of ice, perhaps an inch long, was
suspended from a gas grill. The color comes from the
setting sun as this bold piece of ice grabbed the
very last rays of sunlight from that winter day.
Dark Crystal is available in a variety of sizes, with an unframed print matted at 11x14, and framed images at both 18x24 (single mat) and 22x28 (double-matted). Please visit my sales gallery on Yessy if you are interested in purchasing Dark Crystal.
Photo of the Week: Memories of Fall
30 July 2007 @ 21:25
This week marks the beginning of a new feature here
on the site. Each week, I'll bring to light an image
that is now available through my sales site on
Yessy.
This week's image is Memories of Fall. I travelled to Lone Elk State Park in autumn to take a look at the bison and elk herds that roam the hillsides of the park, and found a hill of trees next to the lake, all displaying magnificent fall colors. For some reason, the little grove of trees at lake's edge grabbed my imagination, and I decided to set them off by taking the color away from the rest of the image. To me, the simple image reminded me of an old black and white image that had been hand-tinted to restore the color to the grove.
